List of Possibilities

I read Steve Leveen's lovely little book "The Little Guide to Your Well-Read Life" and he mentions a List of Possibilities. It's a to read list but sounds so much better doesn't it? So positive.

I'll be adding a tab to the top that contains my List of Possibilities. Have a book that I just must read? Add it to the comments, please!

Read a Thon Update

THIS POST ORIGINALLY APPEARED ON MY OTHER BLOG AND AS SUCH DOES NOT HAVE THE ORIGINAL COMMENTS LEFT ON IT.

Not sure what hour we are in but I'm still going along. Still not sure that I will even try to attempt staying up all night. My eyes are beginning to blur already and 8 AM is a long way away still.

I have read Stargirl, Forever, Agnus, Thongs and Full Frontal Snogging and am about to be finished with Fever.

Have visited a few websites to encourage other readers as well. Am surprised by the lack of commenting this go round. When I participated before, there were lots of comments on everyone's blogs.

The One After the Break

THIS POST ORIGINALLY APPEARED ON MY OTHER BLOG AND AS SUCH ALL COMMENTS LEFT WILL NOT APPEAR HERE.

After a break, I am back to reading. Have finished Stargirl and am now reading Forever by Judy Blume. Read this one when I was a kid and am curious to see if I like it now as much as I did then. So far...not so much. I hope it is only the boy's name that is throwing me.

2 HOURS IN

THIS POST ORIGINALLY APPEARED ON MY OTHER BLOG SO NO COMMENTS ARE PRESENT.

Two hours into the read-a-thon and I am almost finished with Jerry Spinelli's Stargirl. Am loving it.

The countdown begins...

THIS POST ORIGINALLY WAS POSTED ON MY OTHER BLOG. ORIGINAL COMMENTS HAVE NOT BEEN MOVED OVER.

Oh yes, just hours away from the start of the 2012 Dewey's Read-a-Thon and I have my stack of library books all ready to go plus the hundreds that I personally own that are stacked on my shelves. Thanks to the lovely Jamie of The Perpetual Page-Turner, I put 15 books on reserve last night. We picked up 10 of them today. She recently did a Top Ten "Older" Books I Don't Want People to Forget for her Top Ten Tuesday post. Many of the reserves came from that list because I hadn't read any of them except for everything Judy Blume ever wrote.

Tonight will be spent getting all my snacks ready. In the morning I will hit as many yardsales as I can get in before the 8 AM start time. Then it's reading and reading until the next morning. Still not sure if I will go the whole 24 hours yet but I will be reading until I don't want to read anymore.

Dewey's Read-a-thon 2012

THIS POST ORIGINALLY APPEARED ON MY OTHER BLOG. ANY COMMENTS LEFT HAVE NOT BEEN MOVED OVER.

It's that time of year again. Time for Dewey's 24 hour Read-A-Thon. I haven't decided if I will participate for all 24 hours again but I will definitely be reading for quite a while this Saturday. I have several books out from the library but am thinking that I am going to tackle some of the books collecting dust on my own bookshelves.

Possibility

THIS POST ORIGINALLY APPEARED ON MY OTHER BLOG. ANY COMMENTS LEFT HAVE NOT BEEN MOVED.

I love quotes. I collect them like tiny sparks of hope or nuggets of wisdom. I've shared several from Herstory before and today's quote is so simple but so powerful.

"Dwell in possibility." -Emily Dickinson

Again, so simple but so full of hope. What would your world look like if you starting thinking of the reasons and the ways that your dreams WILL come true instead of all the ways and reasons it WON'T come true?

A statement so simple but potentially life changing.
