The One About Being a Whiny Brat

I'll be honest and say that there are about 5 blogs that I read every single day. As in type in the URL and visit without fail. But there are tons more that I love - I just don't have the time to read or to comment on every single day. Some of the people that I started out loving have changed genres or have stopped posting as much or whatever.

I recently had a conversation with a book blogger friend about getting comments. I'm a tiny fish in the huge book blogger pond so I get very few comments. She gets a few more than I do but she is on the blogs like I used to be...she leaves 20 to 30 comments a day on her favorite blogs. I have a few people that consistently comment but not many. So when we got to talking about comments, we were thinking about those blogs that we leave comments on that NEVER reciprocate.

I was trying to think of blogs that I've stopped reading because I never got any interaction and I realized that there were bloggers that I followed that I've since stopped following...not sure that it was specifically because they never commented on my blog though.

So for those of you who have ever commented here, I'm you even notice if you comment a ton on another person's blog but they never do on yours or is that being a whiny brat?

  1. I love interaction and try to comment on my favorites but sometimes I just don't have anything to say and I don't want to just say "Great review, again, Christina!" know? Can be such an interesting discussion with the way people think about comments.

  2. I do notice! I have kind of been trying to keep track, kind of for curiosity's sake and kind of because I'm a brat, ha! I used to add people to Bloglovin in groups of how I found them, like ABEA, Top Ten Tuesday, Follow Friday. Then I just put blogs I interacted with more in a group of their own. Then I kind of started noticing that some people never seem to care or respond, and now I have them in groups of how likely they are to respond. However, a lot are in "maybe," because sometimes I'm not as observant and stuff. There are a few in "no," and they are people I feel like don't really care about my input, if that makes sense. Maybe it's a personal thing for them, or something, but sometimes it seems like they skip over my interactions? I usually treat the groups as a priority system, and I still look at the blogs of people who don't really comment back, but I only comment if I feel like I have something to say, and if I don't have time for it, I don't stress about it.

So, I do notice. I try not to care too much about it. I really like getting comments, but I know people get busy and my posts aren't actually that awesome so people might not have anything to say in response to them, ha. Sometimes it influences my commenting practices, but not always? But I don't think you're alone in that at all!

Comments make my book nerd heart so very happy. Thanks for dropping by my blog and taking the time to interact with me. I love to talk books with other bookish people!
