{Thoughts On} One Glorious Ambition by Jane Kirkpatrick

Title: One Glorious Ambition
Author: Jane Kirkpatrick
Pages: 367
Source: Publisher for review

I was interested to read Jane Kirkpatrick's ONE GLORIOUS AMBITION because the life of Dorothea Dix is so very interesting. Taking a real life person's life, making it into fiction and pulling it off so no small feat.

I think that Kirkpatrick did a wonderful job doing just that. Dix's life came alive and I found it to be both believable and engaging.

Dorothea is a character you just can't help but like. She wants more that her time period allows. She loves with a fiercely loyal love that I thought was wonderful.

The historical setting was realistic and I enjoyed going back in time to learn about Dorothea and her life.

The dialogue was good and the story flowed well. It was a bit hard to get into because of the slowness of the story but was still interesting, nonetheless.

I would recommend this title to anyone who enjoys historical fiction - that this was based on a true character just makes it that much more interesting.

    1. I think that I'll be looking for more books that are fictionalized accounts of real people's lives. Interesting if well written. There is one cover of this one that I liked way better...I hate to judge a book by its cover but sometimes a pretty cover makes it even better!
