Top Ten Tuesday - Books I Recommend the Most
This week's theme: Books I Recommend the Most.
These are the only books that I have really ever gushed about. Technically I have a Top Ten list since there are 7 Harry Potter books. Excited to see everyone else's list.
Any of the Harry Potter books. I loved them. I even have re-read them. I don't normally re-read.
The Tragedy Paper by Elizabeth LaBan (my review). This book was incredible and I always gush about it when given the chance. "This book sucked me in" is so overused on book blogs but oh my golly, this book sucked me in. I would literally blink and wonder where the heck I actually was because I thought I was listening to Tim tell his story.
Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo. (my review) Whenever someone else does a review, I fangirl all over this one again! Incredible story, excellent world building, great characters and my #1 book boyfriend...the Darkling. Swoon.
Being Henry David by Cal Armistead. (my review) Another one that I rave about. Such an interesting story with a male (!) POV and amnesia Plus, I loved all the references to Henry David Thoreau. And I won an autographed copy of this. Made my little book lovin' heart go all pitter patter.
What do you rave about? Participating in this week's Top Ten? Leave me a link so I can see your list!

Shark Tales by Barbara Corcoran - Thoughts on a Business Book
Title: Shark Tales (How I Turned $1,000 Into a Billion Dollar Business)
Author: Barbara Corcoran with Bruce Littlefield
Pages: 291
Genre: Business
Source: library loan (they bought a copy per my request...thanks library!)
Rating: Mixed Bag
This title was originally published as If You Don't Have Big Breasts, Put Ribbons on Your Pigtails. It's a good thing the title changed or I never would have picked up this book. Even though that old title is explained through a story in the book, I dislike it. Strongly. This edition has been re-edited and content from the show has been added.
My Favorite got me addicted to the show Shark Tank and Barbara is one of the Sharks. She is firm but fair on the show and I really like how she deals with the entrepreneurs that pitch their ideas. I follow several of the Sharks on my other Twitter account and something was said about her book so I looked it up.
It's a mix of stories from her childhood and how the lessons her mom taught her helped her in her business. To go from $1,000 loan to being New York City's Queen of Real Estate is quite impressive and I was highly interested in learning how she did it. I enjoyed her stories and nodded my head at her "lessons" but, and maybe it's just me, but I didn't really find anything that I could relate to my own business. Guess I am not thinking outside the box as much as I should.
It was a light and fairly quick read but it isn't a book that I would gush about. I'd recommend it to other fans of Barbara's who would like to learn more about her upbringing but if you are looking for a book to make you rich, this isn't it.
Anyone else like Shark Tank or business type books? I'm always looking for books like that so if you know of any that are excellent, please share in the comments or send me an email or tweet at me on Twitter.

{ARC Review} The Kiddie Table - a review of Willie the Taxi Cat
Title: Willie the Taxi Cat
Author: Eva M. Sakmar-Sullivan
Illustrator: Eva M. Sakmar-Sullivan
Genre: Children's
Source: I received this title in exchange for an honest review.
Publication Date: Releases this Friday, March 29, 2013!
This is a super cute, simple counting book. Willie the Taxi cat drives around an assortment of different animals. The great illustrations and rhyming verse made this a fun one to read.
My 6 year old, Cole, said: "That was funny, Mom!"
My 4 year old, Ian, said: "I liked all the animals."
We've read this one several times over and I've enjoyed it too.
Great book for the little ones!

Launch Your Life by Kenny Silva - Thoughts
Title: Launch Your Life
Author: Kenny Silva
Pages: 247
Genre: Self Help, Christian
Rating: great idea!
Source: Booksneeze.com in exchange for an honest review. Thanks!
The entire time I read this book, I kept saying "launch yo self" over and over. It was a good thing!
One of my favorite types of books to read is self-help and this one with the Christian bent, made it even more interesting. Author Silva covers the basics to launching your life after college. That stage of not quite fully grown but almost. I've been fully grown for a while now but I still enjoyed the tips presented here. One of my favorite parts of the book was the combination of ideas with a Biblical follow up. Behind each great idea is the verse from the Bible that it was taken from. I really loved that.
This guide covers many items on starting out life, in the best way possible. Things such as networking, resume writing, dealing with parents, friendships, fiances...they were all covered. Clear ideas and tips make it easy to turn to just the chapter you need to read right now. And the chapters have tabs for the big sections: Identity Career, Fiances, Home and Growth. I love that the chapters have a notes section at the end. It is helpful to read a section and take notes on that end sheet. It also includes a blank calendar at the end, as well as a business card holder and pockets to hold misc papers. You really can have it all in one place with this handy little life guide.
Another awesome inclusion was the author's personal stories. I always "learn" faster with a "hands on" aspect and these stories gave me that in a printed form. I could see what he intended his point to be from his included personal story.
I would highly recommend this title to those who are just graduating from high school or college or for anyone who would like a back to basics guide to remind them of the essentials.

Easy peezy lemon breezy!
This week's featured bloggers are: Shiloh Walker and Cherie Reads.
Want to keep in touch with me? There are lots of different ways. You can follow me on Twitter (follow button on right), add me to your RSS feed, follow me on bloglovin' (follow button on right) or friend me on Goodreads. See? I'm all over the place. Literally.
Oooh, guilty reading pleasure? I'd have to say young adult books. Since I am a good 20 years more A(dult) than Y(oung). I think that I enjoy them so much because they are usually quick reads and they are different from my life. As a single mom of two little boys, I don't really want to read about single moms with kids. I'd rather read about someone completely different from me. What about you?
