Synopsis:
Gilbert Garfinkle is the ultimate tech geek. He has a compulsive need to take apart, figure out, and fix things; and he dreams of one day fixing the world. But a funny thing happens on the way to the future. Gilbert encounters the one thing he'll never be able to figure out: a gorgeous, teenage vampire girl named Amber, who wants to turn Gilbert into her platonic BFF--literally forever! This leaves the ultimate geek pondering life's ultimate question: "Why me?"

I was tickled to participate in this blog tour. Here's why...

I'll be honest when I say that I am not in love with the cover but you guys, this was such a cute read. Gives new meaning to the term "adorkable"! Nothing better than a sarcastic narrator and Gilbert was awesome. He's a total dork and he knows it but I think that I might have developed a crush. I enjoyed his self depreciation. Was glad that the author chose to use his voice at the narrator. I'm not sure it would have been as entertaining in another person's voice. After he changes, he isn't used to his new self and that leads to all kinds of wonderful.

The book starts with a bang and is fast paced throughout, never losing my attention. Great dialogue. The characters were pretty believable and developed. The secondary characters were great, even if not all of them were likable. Besides the humor, my favorite parts were when Gilbert mentioned his gadgets or fixing things. That was very fun. Wish I were a techy fix it girl myself so I loved that part.

Amber is something else. Vampires are all the rage right now and she was awesome. She'd fit in with the sparkly ones AND the mean ones, I think. She is beautiful. When she first started talking to Gilbert, he didn't know what to think. After she bites him and changes him, he just keeps asking "why?".

There was a tad bit of redundancy on certain phrases but nothing that was too distracting.

I'd recommend this book to anyone who likes funny, sarcastic characters or vampires. It was a quick and fun read! I'll be adding Shevi Arnold to my list of author to seek out. She wrote a highly entertaining book!

AUTHOR BIO:
Shevi Arnold writes funny. She can't help it. She's been writing funny since she was a kid, cracking up her class and her teachers with her humorous essays.

In high school she studied sitcoms when she was supposed to be doing her homework, and in college she took a couple of courses in comedy and clowning, as part of her degrees in English Literate and Theater Studies. She just had to find out what made something funny.

Eventually she cracked the code, and that led to jobs as a political cartoonist, a comic-strip magazine editor, and an arts-and-entertainment writer specializing in children's entertainment and, of course, comedy.
