{ARC Review} The Kiddie Table - I Hate Picture Books
Title: I Hate Picture Books
Author: Timothy Young (website)
Illustrator: Timothy Young
Genre: Kids Picture Books
This title was released on March 29, 2013
I received this title from the publisher via netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Thanks so much!
This week's Kiddie Table is a fun one. First, the cover is adorable. I love the angry looking little boy. As the mom of a 4 year old and 6 year old boy, I have personally gone through the "I hate picture books" stage...they are for babies.
This book tells the story of little Max, who one day decides that he hates picture books and proceeds to collect them all up to throw them all away. Only thing is that he learns that it the imagination of the reader that makes a book. Does he get rid of them all or does he decide to keep them?
The illustrations (by the author himself) were really, really good and so appropriate for the book. Both of my boys enjoyed this story and laughed throughout it. And the best thing? They went into their rooms to find some of their old picture books. That's a win for sure.
I'd love to own a phyical copy of this to read. It was just as fun for me as it was for them. I recommend it to both boys and girls around the ages of 3 to 7ish.
If you have kids, what is your favorite one to read? If no kids, what is your favorite from your childhood? Do share!
