Q:  Have you ever read a book that you thought you would hate — ? Did you end up hating it? Did you end up loving it? Or would you never do that?

I used to but now I don't usually pick up a book that I think I will hate. There are too many out there that I don't want to waste my time. But having said that, there are lots of books that I think that I will "just like" that I end up loving.

  1. I think I should give each book an equal chance, but sometimes I just judge books by their covers...

    1. I love when people tell me that they DON'T judge a book by its cover...that's not even possible to me. ;-) I've been pleasantly surprised by some books but I'd rather not waste time on one I know I won't enjoy.

      Thanks for the follow!

  2. Good answer. I like to form my own opinion, because sometimes you just don't know what you will really think until you read it. That's why, even if I read bad or negative reviews for a book.. I would always trust my own opinion and judgement, especially if it's something that sounds interesting though am unsure of.

    1. I'm pretty much the same way as you. Sometimes a bad review makes me WANT to read it actually depending on what it is. I know certain things that I never want to read about and that helps narrow down books too.

Thanks for the follow...will follow back.

  3. I used to read books I thought I'd dislike quite often in the past, though these days I read so much less that I try to focus on the books I'll enjoy and like than the ones I'll enjoy and dislike. LOL

    1. I just don't want to waste time on books that don't grab me right away. I'll never read everything I want to, you know?

Thanks for the follow...following back ;-)

  4. Yes, why read a book you think you'll hate when there's 800 other books out there screaming for a chance to be read and you're sure you'll love them?! (Of course, I guess maybe it's better to think you'll hate a book and then you love it, rather than think you'll love a book and then you hate it.)

    1. I don't get to read as much as I'd like so I've learned to be picky. Had a friend that NEVER put a book down once she started it..that's willpower for sure! LOL

    1. Hearing that alot this week. Why bother with a book you think you'll hate?

  7. It's a great feeling when you pick up a book you think you'll "just like" and then discover you actually love it. Sometimes the surprise of that is almost better than when you knew you were going to love the book all along.

    1. I agree...that is better now that you put it that way. A lack of reading time makes me pick about what I pick up and quick to put something down I'm not liking.

      Follow you back ;-)

  8. Any titles to mention? :) I'd love to hear which ones those were.

    1. Quite a few of my books read this year would be good answers. I never thought I'd love The Tragedy Paper, Cinder and Shadow and Bone as much as I did. I loved them!

Exactly...why waste time on bad ones when there are so many good ones?

  10. Yep, we have to learn what we like and, more importantly, what we don't and go with it.

  12. That's for dang sure! And since I want to read allthebooks, I have to limit myself somehow huh?

  13. I agree--why read it if you think you're going to hate it? Although I've been close to that with my book club--there was one book that we read last year that I didn't think I was going to like, and I really didn't like it at all. I feel bad, but I did give it a try!

    1. I've even started setting aside review books if I am not liking them...I think I will but if it turns out that I don't, I let 'em go! My book club was the worst at picking books I didn't like unfortunately but those seemed to make the best discussions.
