Top Ten Tuesday - Pre-Blogging Faves

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly event hosted by the Broke and the Bookish.

This week's topic is the top ten favorite books we read before we started blogging and I had decided not to participate this time. Then I got to thinking about it and easily came up with a list so here I am.

The Harry Potter series by JK Rowling. This will be all over the place this week, no doubt!

The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins. Technically I was blogging when I read this but it was my other blog and not a books only blog so I'm counting them.

Slammerkin by Emma Donoghue. One of my all time favorite books because it seemed so, so real. Need to re-read this one soon but am afraid I might not like it as much now and don't want to ruin it!

The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd. Such a great book.

Howard's End is on the Landing by Susan Hill. Love her bookish ramblings. I even have an autographed copy of this straight from the author!

Three Sister's Island trilogy by Nora Roberts. Recently re-read this and didn't love all the books as much as the first time but love these characters.

A Time to Kill by John Grisham. Oh how I loved this book.

The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks. Sigh. Sobbed at this one and love, love, love the movie. Ryan Gosling. Enough said.

My tastes have certainly changed in the past few years!

Your turn...have you read any of these? Love them? Hate them? Don't forget to leave me a link to your TTT!

  3. I wasn't fond of the whole Hunger Games trilogy, I loved the first book but the second was a major let down.

    1. I agree that the second wasn't as good as the first but I so enjoyed that series. Your list was awesome, by the way!

  6. Besides the obvious two (Hunger Games and Harry Potter), I haven't read any of these! I do get what you mean with Slammerkin though. There's a few books on my list that I haven't read in so long that I'm worried that if I reread them I might realize they're not as great as I remember them! Of course, I don't want to keep recommending them to others if I no longer like them, so I'm not sure what I'll do. It's strange how our reading taste can change so much!

    1. Oh yes, that really is the reason I haven't read it again...too afraid I'll go "what the heck was I thinking?" but I keep looking over at it wondering. Reading taste can change so, so much..that is for sure!

  8. We have the same first two! ;) And I am really non-emotional--I never cry at sad movies or books and my husband sometimes swears I don't have a heart. But I LOVE The Notebook. It is one of my absolute favorite movies and Ryan Gosling is so fantastic in it, and that ending! Gah! Gets me every time! And I read the book a couple of years ago and while it wasn't as good as the movie for me, I still loved it. Great list, Dana!
